Custom message for conversion errors? Getting "Value 'x' could not be converted"

Jul 26, 2013 at 2:32 PM
My view model has an integer property, which is bound to a WPF TextBox.

The property is optional, and I have a 'GreaterThan' rule in the validator for the view model.

If I enter non-numeric characters in the text box, I get this error message:

Value 'x' could not be converted

My view model implements INotifyDataErrorInfo, but this error isn't included like the Fluent Validation ones are.
  1. How can I get this error included with INotifyDataErrorInfo?
  2. How can I customise this error message to someline a bit more user-friendly?

Hmm that doesn't sound right. That isn't one of FluentValidation's default error messages...it sounds like that's an exception being thrown when the property value can't be set. Perhaps you could put together a small sample that reproduces the issue and email it to me (jeremy AT jeremyskinner.co.uk)? Then I'll be able to investigate further.
